Abraham Lincoln Online - Most of us know a few things about Abraham Lincoln, 13th president of the United States. But the facts found at this site go far beyond what we might learn in the average history book. Many of his speeches and letters are available, as are FAQs, historic sites, and links to other Web sites on Lincoln. The Abraham Lincoln Quiz (in Educational Links) provides a lot of great questions, for example, "Which two things would Lincoln not want you to know?" The answers are here too.

Grolier Online's - The American Presidency - Who's running for president in the year 2000? Links to all their official sites may be found here. Grolier offers an outstanding presidential resource, which will teach you everything from elections to scandals, from impeachments to how a voting machine works. Some sections cater to lower elementary grades, while others are for teens and adults. Don't miss the presidential flip cards--collect them all!

POTUS - Presidents of the United States - This site is loaded with information about all of the U.S. presidents. You'll find a picture or photo, information about their elections, inaugurations, terms of office, and cabinet members. There are also links to other resources around the Net; for example, learning about Thomas Jefferson, we can take a virtual visit to his home, called Monticello. There are also links to biographies, historical documents, and trivia. Did you know that Jefferson wrote his own epitaph and did not mention that he had served as president of the United States?

The American Experience - The Presidents - This site has a time line of U.S. presidents running across the top of the page, in the Presidential Record area. You can see who served when and for how many years. Click on any name to get more information. Look at the "Snap Shot" for a picture and a brief overview. Then use the menu of choices on the left to find out more about the historical era and events of the times. You'll get a sense of what the president's domestic and foreign relations policies were as well. Some presidents rate expanded feature stories where you can learn a lot more. The material is presented in an appealing and interesting way; see what you think.

World History: HyperHistory - Hey, your mom says you can have some friends over for lunch! She says to invite three people you admire from history--which heroes would you choose? You might get some ideas here. This site will teach you about important people from 1000 B.C. to the present. You'll find scientists, artists, musicians, authors, politicians, explorers, and many others. But that is not all: you can also trace events through history as well as look at important maps of time periods and the spread of civilizations.
