Ask the Dietitian - Staying healthy means practicing good nutrition, but it's hard to know what's good and bad for you and your kids. Some people say that some fat is good; others say it's all bad. Some say sugar is unhealthy; others say it's OK for you. What to do? You can ask a dietitian! Here you'll find information on many frequently asked questions about nutrition from an expert who knows what foods are good for you.
Children With Diabetes On-line Community - This site contains many features and resources to help your family deal with diabetes. There is an overview of diabetes as well as current research, plus reviews of medical equipment. Browse through a list of summer camps catering to diabetic kids. Hang out in the chat room or post a message on the message board. Notice you can find e-mail addresses of other families in the Friends area; on the Internet, your diabetic child can find another kid who really understands because he or she is going through the same thing. There are also many links to other useful sites.
Kids Learn About Diabetes - This site was created as an Eagle Scout project. It was written to help kids learn to understand diabetes and manage it, especially during special times, like sporting events, parties, and summer camp. Users will learn about testing, complications, fears and feelings, and what's new in research. Best of all, this site isn't written in "doctor-ese" and it's understandable to all.
Managing Your Diabetes Patient Education Program - Eli Lilly and Company's Managing Your Diabetes. Topics include: insulin products (Humalin and Humalog Pen), diabetes history, diabetes news, diabetes care, and sources of information for people with diabetes.
