TopClicks -> The World -> Europe -> Eastern Europe -> Hungary

Hungarian Home Page - Right smack in the middle of Europe--that's where you'll find Hungary. In this decade, we've seen the Communists give up their power. Now, Hungary is a democracy. The best part of this site is the tour of Budapest, the capital. It used to be three towns. One was named "Pest," and one was named "Obuda." Can you guess what the other town was?

Hungarian Images and Historical Background - The Hungarian national anthem and other music are here for your enjoyment. Our favorite is Beethoven's "King Stephen Overture." This first King of Hungary later became a saint. You'll get to look at his royal crown and jewels here. The national costumes are beautiful, with fancy hats, aprons, and embroidery. And there is an interesting section on Transylvania, which was part of the kingdom of Hungary until 1921 and is now part of Romania.

Lonely Planet - Destination Hungary - Hungary is a mixture: old and new, Islam and Christianity, mosques and cathedrals, water and land, city and country. The slide show at this site will show you the contrasts.

Prime Minister's Office - This is the site of Hungary's Prime Minister. Many sections are only in Hungarian, but check the Tour of Parliament at the bottom of the menu for some history on how their Parliament Building came to be, and pictures of the building both inside and out.
