Every time you move the mouse to where he is, he moves away! Is it possible to catch him? Yes, but you may go nuts trying! There are plenty more of these blossoming along the years through 1997. There's a teacher's lounge section with suggested material for lesson plans. Peepsville - The world may be divided into two groups: those who really love marshmallow peeps candy, and those who think this confection is a waste of good sugar! If you're in the former group, you'll like the factory tour, the recipes (!), and the stunning electronic postcards you can send your friends. My favorite is the "Mount Rushmore" illustration, with a bright yellow peep next to Teddy Roosevelt's stony visage.
Santa Claus at Claus.com - Do you know how to get on Santa's Naughty list? He hates it when you put out cookies and milk for him--and the milk is a week beyond the freshness expiration date! He also doesn't like it when kids shove toys under the bed instead of putting them away. To get on Santa's Nice list--that's easy. Just volunteer to do a chore! What's Santa got written down about you this year? See if you're naughty or nice in the archives. Then visit Mrs. Claus' kitchen for some easy-to-make, elf-tested favorites. Take a walk through the toy shop and see what's new (this is a commercial site and you will see some marketing going on, but it is not very heavy-handed). Sing along with the holiday karaoke band, and send some special Santa e-mail. The best fun, though, is on Christmas Eve. Track Santa's location on the radarscope, keep count of how many cookies he's eaten, and see how close he is to your own house! Then you'd better pop into bed, because as everyone knows, Santa doesn't come to a house until the kids are asleep.
Santa's Christmas Page - Christmas for kids of all ages, stories, recipes, holiday decorating and crafts, pictures and desktop themes, and letters to Santa.
Santa's Secret Village at NorthPole.com - Net-mom likes this site and recommends it for preschoolers. It contains no marketing messages. What enchanted us about this simple site was its innocence. Spruced up with a few animations, it is not overdone like so many other Web sites we see these days. It reminded us of the olden days, back in the early `90s when the Net was still a wilderness area. The read-aloud stories all have lessons, the reindeer all pull on the same team, and the cocoa's never hot enough to burn your tongue. Yes, those were the days. We also loved the heirloom recipes in Mrs. Claus' Kitchen and the stories in the Reindeer Barn.
