CountryWatch.com-The Americas - CountryWatch.com is an information provider for schools, universities, libraries and individuals who need up-to-date information and news on the countries of the world and for the public and private sector organizations with global operations and interests.

Geographica Homepage - The Interknowledge Corporation presents this professional-looking site that contains country-specific pages on many countries around the world. Each country site is both a pleasure to look at and a treasure chest of comprehensive information. This is a don't-miss site for worldly info-seekers.

Latin American Network Information Center (LANIC) - The Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin has compiled this site of information on and from Latin America. Browse through categories such as Countries, Education, Government, Science, and Society & Culture. Within Countries, each country is subdivided into additional sections. Within the remaining top categories, information is subdivided by country where appropriate. In all, this is a comprehensive collection of sites. There is also a search function which spans all collected resources. If it's Latin, it's in LANIC.

NOVA Online - Ice Mummies of the Inca - Sometime in the 1500s, she was taken to the top of Sara Sara in the Cordillera Mountains of Peru and offered as a human sacrifice. The frozen and mummified remains of this child, now known as "Sarita," were recently uncovered there. Now, through NOVA Online, you can share in the discovery. Read the story of the expedition that reclaimed her from the ice, and see beautiful photographs of the Peruvian landscape, the local children, and the expedition and its discoveries. Listen to a native melody, a bilingual "Happy Birthday," and the sounds of the picks and shovels of the dig. This finely crafted site is a joy to experience. Don't miss it!

Saint Helena - It's a good thing you can visit Saint Helena on the Web. It's very difficult to get there in person. Tiny Saint Helena is remote (1,200 miles from Africa, 1,800 miles from Brazil), and it's almost inaccessible. The only way you can get there is by mail boat, which sails six or seven times a year. The island's volcanic terrain has prevented any airports and runways from being built. But Saint Helena has a fascinating history and unique plant and animal life. Napoleon Bonaparte spent the last six years of his life there, in exile. At this page, you can see a picture of the wirebird, learn about island life today, and even find out how to get to the island. Take the spectacular photo tour, too, especially if you don't think you'll get there very soon. The island is a British dependent territory, and the people there are called "Saints." Larger islands dependent on Saint Helena are Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, even though they are miles and miles away!

The Guyana World Wide Web Handbook - Did you think that the Netherlands was the only low-lying country protected by a seawall? Nope. Guyana's capital city also sits below sea level. Hey, there's a jaguar in the forest! Jaguars are on the national coat of arms, too, along with sugarcane and rice. Many races live in this South American country. If you explore the history, you'll understand why.
