"Among the growing crop of family ISP's is a project by Robertson, whose
ISP is tentatively scheduled to head online this fall
…Based in Virginia Beach, Va., the ISP will target the 11.5 million U.S.
Internet households with children younger than age 18. It will offer
server-based Internet filtering - meaning the screening is handled through
the ISP's server rather than software mounted on the home computer - and
e-mail filtering. The filtering ISP reflects a trend toward diversifying
market offerings, according to Emily Meehan, an Internet analyst for the
Yankee Group. " There will be more to choose from," she predicted.
"Customers won't be going to the plain vanilla ISP that simply provides Internet
access."
