How to Train Your Cat to Use the Toilet: Imagine! No More Litter Boxes!
By Colleen Heavey Berg
Dogs sit, fetch, roll over and shake while cats slink away seeking the next
patch of sun for a satisfying nap. Cats can't be trained and are undisciplined.
I used to think so too… until Pouncy proved me wrong.
Here's the scoop. Cats are instinctual. You need to tap into that instinct to get Fluffy to do your bidding. Cats are clean creatures and will seek out litter to perform their bathroom needs. Notice when you move the litter box, Fluffy doesn't have a problem finding it? Follow these simple steps to toilet train your cat:
the toilet lid and wrap several layers of saran wrap around the seat. I said several layers, you want Fluffy to use the toilet, not take a swim! Cover the entire surface of the saran wrap with litter and allow your cat to examine her new "litter box". Notoriously private about bodily functions, your cat will christen the new litter box but not until witnesses have left. Turn your head and allow Fluffy to do her duty.
Give your cat a week or so to get used to this new arrangement. Then slowly reduce the amount of litter used. Your cat will be frightened when she sees there is water beneath the saran wrap but instinct has been established and she will continue to use the toilet.
Continue reducing the amount of litter and… reducing the amount of litter… until it is gone. Remove the saran wrap and amaze your friends with this newest pet trick. Congratulations. Fluffy is now fully potty-trained and you have eliminated the dreaded litter box.
