Wasting Strokes

Question: I seem to be "wasting" a lot of strokes around the
green. What advice can you give me to help lower my score?
Answer: Far too many players automatically grab their pitching wedge
or 9 iron to pitch to the green. This shot requires precise execution to get
the ball close to the hole. The key is to choose a club that will get the ball
onto the green and rolling (like a putt) toward the hole. Think minimum air
time--maximum ground time.
Golfers need to be creative when choosing what club to use or shot to play.
Using a putter from the fringe or a 6 or 7 iron from just off the green are
two good examples. Remember-- Putt when you can (from closely mowed areas).Chip
when you can't putt. Pitch when you can't chip.
