American Table Manners - You might have seen the movie Titanic--in it, the rough-and-ready Jack Dawson is invited to a formal dinner party. He is overwhelmed with all the plates and silverware and doesn't know which to use first. That will never happen to you if you study this page. It even tells you which foods are OK to pick up with your fingers. Now, you might think this is silly, but eventually you'll be at a wedding or other special occasion, or you'll even be eating lunch at a fast-food restaurant with someone you want to impress. Luckily, it is OK to eat fries with your fingers!
CyberNetiquette - You want to help your little sister learn about Internet safety rules? If she likes Disney characters, just take her to this site, pull up a chair, and settle back for a story. The stories do take a while to download, but they teach you what you need to know to stay safe. There are several stories currently available, as well as a list of Internet safety tips.
George Washington's Rules of Civility - About 1744, 16-year-old George Washington copied down rules of proper behavior, such as "If others talk at Table be attentive but talk not with Meat in your Mouth." Then he wrote, "Cleanse not your teeth with the Table Cloth Napkin Fork or Knife but if Others do it let it be done wt. a Pick Tooth." Also he advised, "Being Set at meat Scratch not neither Spit Cough or blow your Nose except there's a Necessity for it," and, well, you get the idea. Compare table and other manners from the eighteenth century with current standards.

User Guidelines and Netiquette, by Arlene Rinaldi - Everybody knows that politeness and good etiquette make life easier. Waiting your turn in line, keeping your locker in order, or being nice to your friends helps you as much as the people around you. The same is true on the Internet. There are some basic rules of etiquette (on the Internet it's called netiquette) that help keep things running smoothly. Check out some of these basic rules of Internet good behavior.
