Aish HaTorah - Window on the Wall - The Western Wall is the last remaining structure from the holy temple in Jerusalem, destroyed in A.D. 63. It is a place of sacred pilgrimage to those of the Jewish faith. At this site you will see a live photo of the wall and those who pray before it. The site offers a guide to what you can see in the video screen, and many resources about the wall and Judaism in general. For a donation, you can send e-mail to the wall; your prayer will be printed out and delivered there by a student of Aish HaTorah.
Bar Mitzvah, Bat Mitzvah and Confirmation - The bar/bat mitzvah ceremony (bar mitzvah for boys, bat mitzvah for girls) is celebrated when a Jewish boy turns 13 or a Jewish girl turns 12. The child embraces the Jewish tradition and assumes adult responsibility for fulfilling Jewish law. This page explains it all. Nurit Reshef: Shabbat - The Jewish Sabbath, or Shabbat, begins just before sunset on Friday night. It can't begin until one lights the Sabbath candles, and the lighting is usually done by a woman. She lights the candles, covers her eyes, and says a special blessing in Hebrew. Only then does sheher eyes to look at the Sabbath light. Learn the traditions of the Shabbat at this site.
