This Web page says, "Between 1779 and 1785, Marshall Bernardo de Galvez... defeated the British in Baton Rouge, Mobile, Pensacola, St. Louis, and Fort St. Joseph, Michigan. These victories relieved British pressure on General George Washington's armies and helpedsupply lines for money and military goods from Spain, France, Cuba, and Mexico." There might not have been a United States of America if de Galvez hadn't helped. Learn more about this American hero at the Hispanics in American History page.

Smithsonian Center for Latino Initiatives - There have been many different exhibitions on Latino culture at this Smithsonian museum. Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC) - Can you picture an art museum that's completely outside? Murals are paintings on buildings, and they turn the outdoors into an art gallery. Some of the best mural artists are Latino. In the past, many Latino artists couldn't get their work placed in art museums. Instead, they painted walls, hallways--all kinds of places--producing some beautiful murals. In Los Angeles, with its large Latino population, there are many, many murals. Take a tour of some of the best of these murals, and see what an outdoor art museum looks like.
