Convention & Visitors Bureau Heidelberg - Heidelberg is an historic German city with a famous university, which was founded in 1386! Don't miss the Sightseeing section of this page and check the Student's Prison, which was sort of like detention in the 1700s. If a student played a trick on a teacher or participated in a duel with another student or was too loud or disorderly, then that student was sent off to "prison" for a few days. Supposedly, the prisoners were let out to go to class, but the rest of the time they had to stay there. You can still see the "artwork" on the walls! Don't miss the outstanding views of castles and other old buildings.

Czech Republic - The Czech Republic contains beautiful cities, rugged mountains, rolling hills, and dense forests. Historically, the Czech Republic can be divided into three Czech lands: Bohemia in the west, and Moravia and Slovakia in the east. Lakes in the Czech Republic are usually artificial ponds for growing fish, mostly in south Bohemia, one of the least industrialized parts of the Czech lands. If you need business, news, and government information, visit this official site from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Faroe Islands Travel Guide - The Faroe Islanders have home rule, but they are part of the kingdom of Denmark. In the summer, the sun never sets for three months! It gets low on the horizon, but it doesn't set. Photos of the villages are one of the best parts of this site, and they're picturesque. Many of the buildings have colorful roofs and siding. The green hills will entice you to hike around. Some footpaths are from olden times, before roads were built, but be sure to take a raincoat. It's foggy and drizzly there much of the time. The map is in the Around the Islands section.

Geograhia.com-Europe - No other region of the world even approaches the popularity of Europe as a travel destination. Even for its residents, the cultural density and diversity of this continent offers virtually unlimited opportunities for exploration and discovery. According to this site, the Scottish didn't invent bagpipes, although they have elevated the playing of them to a real art form. Bagpipes consist of a sheepskin bag and five wooden projections. One is the mouthpiece, three are drone pipes, and one is called the chanter, which is the one your fingers actually play. Bagpipes only have one volume: loud! You can't vary the volume level at all. Luckily, Scotland has all those lonely heaths and moors, with all kinds of room to play, where no one will be disturbed. However, many of the original meanings have survived, such as: "Buds and leaves represent birth, growth, and the continuity of life."
