ACEKids Java Games - Is your browser Java-enabled? If you're not sure, this page explains how you can tell. Make sure you don't enable Java without asking your parents first, since there are lots of reasons they may have chosen to disable it. But if you've got it, you can play MasterMind, Connect Four, Stars, Hunt the Wumpus, and Hit Me!

AFRO-Americ@: All Fun & Games - A lot of the games listed here are just too hard for Net-mom, who gets frustrated easily! But for the rubber duckie crowd, we recommend these dress-up games: Scout at the Beach and Scout in Space. Dress up a friendly dog in scuba or astronaut gear and create a detailed online picture of your own. We also liked Dino Design Board, where you click and drag various pieces of dinosaur around until you find a combination you like. The Make a Snow Thing activity is a little odd. Who ever heard of a snowlady wearing a pink bikini?

Air Force Link Jr. - Play games relating to planes (don't miss Math Mission) as well as have fun with the coloring book pages and word searches. In the Media section you'll learn about the history of the Air Force and check out how they helped move Keiko, the Free Willy whale. Listen to music from Armed Forces Radio. You can also send friends electronic postcards featuring planes and images of the space shuttle.

Animabets.com - The Animabets teach topics and host activities that make learning fun. Try exercising with Boris Bear, learning about languages from Alley Alligator or exploring the planets with Jeckyl Jaguar.

Apple Corps - Similar to Mr. Edible Starchy Tuber Head (see the entry later in this section), this site lets you choose other vegetables to decorate with eyes, noses, mouths, and more. Try a moustache on an artichoke or maybe some spectacles on a pumpkin.

BBC Online - Games - This fun and informative site is home to games such as Clunk the Junk and Grabbit Rabbit. Different games are highlighted weekly and it has a whole page dedicated to quizes and fun facts.

BigIdea.com! - Kids - Home of the Veggie Tales. Come play games with your favorite Veggie Tales characters, send an e-card to someone, color, paint, and sing!

Billy Bear's Playground - The graphics here are superb! You can play these games online or offline on paper. The Make Your Own Cartoon Bear and the Mix & Match Em Up games are sure to be winners. Billy Bear has storybooks you will enjoy reading.

Bob's Java Kite - Sometimes there's just not enough wind to fly a kite. Or it's raining. Or it's snowing. Or it's too dark, or...it doesn't matter anymore. Here on a beach beside the Golden Gate Bridge, the conditions are always perfect. You need a Java-enabled browser, and be sure to read the instructions carefully. Otherwise, your virtual kite will spend more time in the sand than in the sky.

Boeing Kids Page:Let's Fly! - The Boeing Kids Page is a site where children of all ages can have fun by solving puzzles and coloring, both online and offline.

BombPop.com - Welcome to the BombPop.com. Brought to you by your favorite bombpop popsicles!! Check out this site and meet the bomb squad, check out the cool games, downloads, and so much more!

Build a South Florida Snowman - Do you live in a place where there is lots of snow in the winter? Or do you live where there's never any snow? It doesn't matter, because here on the Web, you can build a snowman any day of the year. Just select the hat, clothes, facial features, and other things your snowman will need. If you successfully build one of the "thematic" snowmen, you get a surprise!

CBC4kids - From the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, this action-packed site takes you behind the scenes at a sound effects stage (how do they make that train sound?), it quizzes you on rock themes that are actually from classical compositions, and it blasts you into space to attack asteroids in a wild space game arcade. (Warning: This did mess with Net-mom's Netscape browser settings, so you may have to re(for example) the location area of your toolbar.)

Chateau Meddybumps - Read a "story starter" to your child and ask him or her to finish the story; write it all down. Make a whole library of your child's own stories! But that's still not the best part. In the Learning area, click on Online Activities, then have some fun playing games with frogs, fire engines, clowns, and rutabagas.

CyberSurfari - Do you like treasure hunts? If so, you need to come check out this one brought to you by DiscoverySchool.com. They take you across the web on a treasure hunt, complete with prizes. Individuals, families, and schools can sign up to share the adventure. And there are two age groups, kids under 15, and 15 or older. Players visit sponsors' Web pages and outposts to locate treasure codes. For example, one outpost may be the White House's Web site and the clue on the sponsor's page might be: "What are the five different kinds of American crafts in the White House collection?" The cyber-hunter would then visit the White House Web page and look for a reference to White House collection of American crafts. Once the text describing the collection is clicked, a congratulations page complete with a specific treasure code is revealed.

You can make things better, but you've got to do so in a cost-effective way. It won't be easy, but you can discover how proper management of resources can make a difference in saving this community. There will be lots of help, because this site is run by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Electric Games - If you liked Ambrosia, you will love Electric Games. This site has practically every shareware game ever made. But here's the best part: it has both Mac and PC games. It takes a minute to load, but it's worth it. I mean it has everything---from games you never knew existed to games you've been seeking for years, they're all here. and since they're shareware, you don't have to pay big bucks for high-quality games. But it is a good idea to pay the authors what they ask for the game after you've played it for a while; it helps them make upgrades and new games for your enjoyment.

Energy Quest Games - OK, these are educational games, but they really will spark your curiosity about electricity and solar, wind, and nuclear power. Don't miss playing the hilarious game called Watt's That? If you run out of energy, take a nap and come back later for more fun.

Fisher-Price - Sure, you can find out about Fisher-Price products and news about the company, but the best part is the section called Fun! It is slow to load, but it's worth it when you find all the games, activities, and goodies inside. Try to see if you can help a little puppy guess who is at the door. Listen for the clues, examine the two choices, and then click on "the friend who works on the farm." The door swings-were you right? Of course in real life, you shouldn'tthe door unless an adult says it is OK. Other games include shape and color recognition as well as an alphabet game. There are also activity sheets to print.

Fruit Game - Don't get the idea this is a PEACHy game. It may apPEAR simple, but LEMON tell you, it's impossible to win the way they have it set up. Play against the computer, but don't be the last to take a fruit from the table! Once again--we warned you, you can't win, it's a mathematical trick. ORANGE you glad we told you?

Fun & Games - Youth Sports Network offers a great collection of games we loved. In Bag This you try to catch nutritional groceries falling from above, avoiding the toxic waste barrels and the cupcakes. There's also a Soccer Shootout, a Smashball game, and more. Player two points to the stamp with the rocket on it, if he or she can find it. Then it's player two's turn: "I spy a stamp with a dog!" And so on. See if you can find the stamp with Mt. Rushmore.

Mancala Web v2.0 - Mancala games are among those ancient games that last and last because the rules to play are simple, but the subtleties of winning take a long time to master.

Mankala - This is a fun version of an ancient strategy game that people have been playing for years. In the real world, you can play it with beans, seeds, or very small pebbles. On the Net, you play it on screen with Java. The object of this game is to have more pebbles in your "home pit" at the end of the game than your opponent has. This applet lets you choose who gets to go first, how greedy the other player is, and which variation of the game you'd like to play.

Marcia's Games - Jackson's Barn will be enjoyed by preschoolers, while the other games on this site--especially Gothic Window--will be fun for everyone.
