Delmont and Resica Falls Scout Reservation's 1996 Songbook - Summer camp is known as a great place for mosquitoes, strange food, and learning songs to annoy your parents! If you need the words to favorites like "Do Your Ears Hang Low?" this is the place. Simple skits are also included.

Musical Instrument Quiz - How many instruments can you recognize if you see a picture and hear the sound it makes when played? This is your chance to test yourself. And if you just want to explore the music encyclopedia, you can stop anywhere and hear a balalaika , a harp, or a clarinet.

Official Wizard of Oz Page - The Official Wizard of Oz site offers information about the original 1939 movie: the cast, the posters, and the lyrics. Lots of sounds from the movie are collected here. You can listen as Dorothy says, "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas any more," and shiver as the witch says, "How about a little fire, Scarecrow?" There's even a link to a site with Oz recipes!

On Air Concert - Sshh! It's time to listen to a musical performance featuring kids from all over the world. You'll hear Anne-Raphaelle (age nine, France) playing the piano, Max (age six, U.S.A.) playing his violin, and many others. You can also send in your own audio files if you want to join the band.

Philomel Records! - You know what an optical illusion is: a picture that can look like several different things all at once. Are you ready for an audio illusion? Diana Deutsch's CD is called Musical Illusions and Paradoxes, and you can hear several samples at this Web site. Did you know that people hear sounds differently? Sometimes your brain can be tricked into hearing melodies that aren't really there. Sound impossible? Listen to the audio files here, and see if you can identify the mystery tune.

Popular Songs in American History - Listening to the popular music of an age adds a new dimension to the study of history. Choose to explore the music of Revolutionary War times, the Civil War, the Gold Rush, or other period in American history. There's also a special section on traditional American tunes and lyrics, including such perennial favorites as "Home on the Range" and "Shenandoah." Do your kids know their musical heritage?

Red Grammer - Red Grammer is a wonderful songwriter and singer who travels all across the country performing at schools and in concert. He and his wife, Kathy, have written a lot of great tunes, including "Teaching Peace." It won a Classic Children's Audio Recording Award from Parents' Choice, an award few albums ever achieve. The All Music Guide declared "Teaching Peace" to be one of the top five children's recordings of all time. You can listen to some of Red's songs (click on the jukebox), learn movements to his songs, and see if he's coming to your school.

Songs for Scouts - Gather `round the campfire and share some singing--here are silly songs, lots of gross songs, and songs that are just plain fun. If you want the definitive version of "Greasy Grimy Gopher Guts," look no further.

The Soundry - This site uses wonderful interactive demonstrations to demonstrate how we hear what we hear. Start off with the structure of the ear, move into physics and the characteristics of a sound wave, and learn about the history of recorded sound. Don't miss the applets in the Sound Lab. Create a sound "scene" or movie using only sounds arranged in a particular order. Listen to a few of the samples, such as "Tarzan Has an Accident." You'll get the idea. Other applets include the Doppler effect, harmonics, waves, and beats. In fact, no one could beat this site. The 1998 ThinkQuest Grand Prize winner was created by kids!

Walt Disney Records - "Be Our Guest" at this treasure chest of sounds from Disney movies. Whether you're in the mood for just "The Bare Necessities" ( The Jungle Book ) or something a little more exotic like "Hakuna Matata" ( The Lion King: Rhythm of the Pride Lands ), you'll find it here. Samples of all the latest music are available, but don't forget about the music from oldies such as Fantasia and Mary Poppins .
