American Philatelic Society - Stamp Collecting - America's national stamp collecting organization. Many services for philatelists including stamp expertizing, colorful American Philatelist monthly magazine, philatelic research help.

Junior Philatelists of America - What's a philatelist? That's a person who really, really likes to collect stamps, postal markings, and other pieces of postal history. If you're under 18 and you'd like to know more about this very popular hobby, here's a great place to start. One online pamphlet you can read is called "How to Avoid Common Mistakes As a Beginning Stamp Collector." One very important hint involves getting the used stamp off the envelope--you don't just peel it off. There's a lot to know!

National Postal Museum - Check out one of the Smithsonian Institution's newest museums! Its exhibits are organized into several major galleries that tell the story of postal history, and it includes a great collection of rare and wonderful stamp images. In many ways, the study of U.S. postage stamps is the study of American history and tradition. Whether you collect stamps or just use them to mail letters, you'll find a visit to this site well worth the time.

Stamp Quest - Canada Post Corporation - This Canadian site offers a lot of information to the beginning stamp collector, and there's also a clever but maddening game room. Seems there's a stamp album lying and you have to click and drag the loose stamps to their correct places on the page. It doesn't sound hard, but we haven't mentioned yet that you only get a limited time to perform this task. After that the FAN COMES ON and blows away all your hard work! Can you get past the second level?

The Museum of United States Essays & Proofs - The Museum of United States Essays & Proofs is dedicated to the study and appreciation of the artistry in early U.S. postage and revenue stamp design, as seen through the actual handiwork of the designers and engravers.
